About Creative Learning Curves

Creative Learning Curves helps individuals of all ages to use art and heritage as a resource for their emotional and mental wellbeing so they can grow and connect and improve their day-to-day lives.

With our day-to-day stress, with situations that might require us putting other people’s needs or our jobs' needs first, we might not find time to look inwards and reflect on our day or emotions. My projects are thought to help you fulfil that through the arts and heritage and are offered as a way of selfcare.

We, as humans, use a range of coping mechanisms to overcome uncomfortable emotions or built-up stress and common anxieties. Among the healthy copying mechanism some people might exercise, take a warm bath, meditate, give themselves a pep-talk... The one we are going to explore in these sessions is creativity and connection for mind exercising and wellbeing.

The initiator: Maria Gomez Diez

I'm qualified in Pedagogy Degree by the University of Granada, as a Therapeutic Art Coach and a Mental Health First Aider by MHFA England, I have been working as an art educator in different cultural institutions and museums since 2009 in England and Spain.

During my career, I have experienced how the arts have improved people's lives at many levels not only approaching it as a learning process but also using it as a tool for wellbeing, personal growth and connection.

Therefore, I decided to potentiate my teaching by focusing on the good things that art gives us, to improve participants' well-being as well as the confidence of using the arts as a coping strategy. Rather than focusing on developing art techniques, I design my workshops with the aim to break down barriers and challenge limiting beliefs that might come when approaching the arts and focus on the process of self-discovery and using the arts for self-care.

For this, I use a range of learning and mindfulness techniques to help participants to use the arts to develop their confidence and centeredness.
